Whether you’re dating, engaged, or years into marriage, couples counseling is an investment in your relationship’s future, helping you build a stronger, more connected foundation. Rather than staying stuck in the same cycles, therapy gives you the tools to grow together with clarity and compassion. When you invest in your partnership now, you’re choosing long-term emotional wellness, trust, and love.
1. Improve Communication Learn how to express your needs clearly and listen with empathy. We help couples build healthier communication patterns that reduce misunderstandings and deepen connection.
2. Rebuild Trust Whether you’re healing from betrayal, hurt, or long-standing resentment, couples counseling creates a safe space to process pain and rebuild trust—step by step.
3. Strengthen Emotional Intimacy Feel like roommates instead of partners? Counseling helps rekindle emotional closeness, physical intimacy, and the sense of being truly seen and understood.
4. Gain Tools for Conflict Resolution Conflict is natural. We help you break the cycle of repeating arguments by identifying underlying issues, unspoken needs, and triggers. We’ll help you learn tools to, repair after disagreements, and find common ground—without losing yourselves in the process.
5. Support for Interracial and Cross-Cultural Couples We honor the unique dynamics of multicultural partnerships and provide a space where your stories, identities, and histories are respected and supported.
At Hummingbird Marriage and Family Therapy, couple’s counseling is a dedicated space for deepening connection, improving communication, and resolving relational challenges. To ensure the highest level of care, I do not accept insurance for couple’s sessions for several key reasons :
1. Insurance Isn’t Designed for Relationship Work
Insurance coverage typically requires a mental health diagnosis for one individual. Because couple’s counseling focuses on the relationship—not individual mental health diagnoses—it usually doesn’t qualify for reimbursement. I believe you shouldn’t have to pathologize your relationship to access meaningful support.
2. Your Privacy is a Priority
Insurance billing requires sharing session details and clinical notes, which can become part of your permanent medical record. By choosing private pay, your work together remains fully confidential and in your control.
3.Greater Flexibility, More Effective Care
Without insurance restrictions, we can create a plan that fits your needs—not a preset number of sessions or an imposed treatment structure. This allows us to focus on what matters most: building the relationship you both want.
Using HSA/FSA Accounts
Investing in your relationship is a powerful and proactive step toward deeper connection, better communication, and long-term fulfillment. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you may be able to use those funds for couple’s counseling sessions. I’m happy to provide a receipt for reimbursement, depending on your plan.
